This is not a song fic using that old Peaches and Herb tune from the 70's. Reunited by Tess Mulder slumped in the back seat of the van. He had been released from the hospital and the Gunmen had been there to pick him up. He stared sightlessly out the window, watching the miles fly by. They were not going to his apartment, nor were they heading back to the Gunmens' place. He honestly didn't know where they were going, but was too tired to care. In the two weeks since he had first been hospitalized he had come a long way in learning how to the control the voices and thoughts of other people that had been bombarding him ever since he had come in contact with the rubbing of the alien artifact. Now he was able to block them out, or at least reduce them to a vague whispering, niggling at the edges of his consciousness and the raging headaches that had plagued him were gone. Leaving him free to do what he did best. Worry. Worry about Scully. He knew she had flown to Africa to look for the alien artifact. Somehow she had managed to coerce the doctors into letting her see Mulder before she left. She had told him where she was going and had reassured him that she would be back soon to get him out of there. Using her status as his personal physician and partner and wielding the medical power of attorney that he had signed, giving her the authority to make medical decisions for him, when he was unable, she had bullied the doctors into agreeing to wean him off of the powerful drugs they were giving him. She had also limited his visitors to the Gunmen and the Gunmen alone, effectively banning Diana and Skinner from getting anywhere near him. And then she had left. Alone. He was frightened at the idea of her working without anyone to back her up, without anyone for her to trust. The Gunmen claimed that they had been in touch with her over the last two weeks and although he knew they wouldn't lie to him, he needed to speak with her, to hear her voice in order for him to believe that she was all right. The van slowed and pulled into the parking lot of a hotel. Mulder docilely got of the van, not caring where they were, as long as it was far from the hospital. He ambled across the parking lot with his friends when suddenly he stopped and raised his head, looking like an animal testing the air for danger or..... "Scully," he breathed. She was here, nearby, he could sense her closeness. He began to move more quickly across the parking lot, heading toward the manager's office when Byers grabbed him by the arm. "Mulder, where are you going?" he asked. "Scully, she's here." Mulder tried to shake off the other man's hand. Frohicke stepped close. "Yes, she's here, but not that way." Byers tugged on his arm and Mulder followed quickly. They stopped before a door and Langly rapped his knuckles against it and then pulled out a key. Mulder was fairly vibrating with his need to see Scully. The four men stepped into the motel room and closed the door behind them. Actually it was two rooms, a small living room/kitchen where they were standing and another door which presumably led to the bedroom. Scully stepped through the bedroom door and she and Mulder locked eyes on each other. She flashed him a quiet smile and then turned her attention to the other men. They spoke quietly and quickly for several minutes as she gave instructions and the three men nodded and added a few suggestions. Mulder was completely focused on Scully and was not paying any attention to the conversation that was taking place. Scully walked the men to the door, handing them a computer disk as they opened the door to leave. Just as they were about to step out of the room, Scully stopped them and impulsively gave each of them a hug and kiss. "Thank you for taking care of him," she whispered. "Thanks for everything." She smiled tremulously. "We couldn't do this without you." Byers and Langly were tongue-tied at this rare display of affection from Scully. However, Frohicke merely tightened his arms around her before stepping back. He handed her an envelope. "$10,000 pulled from your and Mulder's accounts. We had the rest of the money moved from your accounts to one that we have control of. It can't be traced, so if you need more money, you know where to find it. Be careful. Take care of yourself too and keep in touch." Scully nodded and the men left. She closed the door behind them, locking it. Taking a deep breath she turned back to Mulder. He was standing in the same place, still staring at her. She opened her mouth to speak when suddenly he shook free of the daze he had been in since he had first laid eyes on her. He took three fast, long steps across the room and yanked her into his arms. He banded his arms tightly around her and dragged her close to him so that her toes were scraping the floor. She wrapped her arms around his neck and clung to him, trying to get closer. Suddenly he reached down and grasping her thighs, he lifted her into his embrace, trapping her between his body and the door behind her. She had no choice but to wrap her legs around him and hang on. They both began to talk at the same time. "I was so worried about you, I'm sorry I had to leave you..." "...so scared, you were all alone, I couldn't help you..." "..checked with the guys to see how you were doing, but I really wanted to speak with you..." "...so many voices inside my head and I only wanted to hear yours..." "...I'm back, I'm not leaving..." "Don't ever leave me again..." "I missed you." "I missed you." He hitched her up, trying to gain a more secure hold on her. Their faces were close with hers slightly higher than his. Still holding his eyes with her own she lowered her face and brushed her lips against his. He stood frozen, barely breathing and she continued her exploration. She pressed the softest kisses imaginable to his lips, butterfly kisses that had his heart racing, but still he stood quietly. Then Scully traced the seam of his lips with her tongue, silently begging for entry. Suddenly Mulder burst to life, his mouth opening, drawing her tongue inside. His lips slanted across hers and he smashed her body up against the door, bracing her there and freeing his hands. Scully's hands were buried in his hair and she hung on for dear life. Mulder had taken control of the kiss away from her. Sucking her tongue into his mouth, then chasing it with his own back into her mouth, changing the angle of the kiss, tilting her head from one side to the other, chewing on her bottom lip, sliding his tongue along the satiny underside of her upper lip. She broke free for a moment, barely able to draw a quick lungful of air, before he was on her again. He slid their bodies down along the door and then covered her body with his own. "Oh God," she murmured as his lips began to trace a path down her cheek to her jaw. "Mul...Mulder," she was gasping for air. "Mulder, we need to talk, I have to tell you what I found...ooooohhhh," she sighed as he began to suck lightly on the soft skin of her throat. "Mulder..." she tried again. "Not now," he rasped. He closed his teeth gently around the pulsing vein that ran along the side of her neck. Scully quivered once and fell silent under his ministrations. She tugged on his hair and drew his mouth back to hers. They kissed for endless minutes - frantic, exploring, wet kisses; soft, gentle reassuring kisses; playful, nipping, passionate kisses. Finally, Mulder pulled away from Scully's clinging lips and slid down her body, resting his head on her stomach. They concentrated for a couple of minutes on filling starved lungs with air. Scully was running her fingers rhythmically through Mulder's hair when she spoke. "Mulder, I found it. The proof you've been looking for." "I know." "We have to leave soon, if we're going to get back there before something happens to it." "I know." "Oh, God, Mulder. It's so much more than I ever..." "I know." "Mulder, I'm scared." "I know. Me too." They lay there silently for a long minute and then, "Scully, I love you." "I know. Me too." The End Feedback please at tnv099@aol.com
